Curatorial context

The exhibition 'YO-TÚ. Javier Pagola en papel' presents the graphic output of artist Javier Pagola (b. 1955), who utilizes drawing as his primary creative medium to construct a world inhabited by distinctive characters. The exhibition eschews a traditional chronological display, instead inviting visitors into the artist's mind through a deliberately unordered presentation of his work. Numerous drawings, sketches, and dreamlike pieces, totaling around 200 recent works on paper in various formats, are featured. This includes 130 diverse drawings, 35 expressionist portraits, 13 artist books presented in display cases, and a video where Pagola discusses his artistic process and influences. To further immerse visitors in his approach to drawing, an imaginary studio space has been recreated, where Pagola worked on site, creating new drawings that add another chapter to his artistic journey.
