This colloquium, part of the CÚBIT. FESTIVAL, brings together experts in neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and art to discuss the impact of AI on artistic creation, authorship, and the art system. Speakers will explore the advantages, challenges, and potential dangers of algorithm-mediated art.
The 'COLOQUIO SOBRE ARTE + IA' is a special event within the CÚBIT. FESTIVAL (Science + Art) that delves into the complex relationship between artificial intelligence and the art world. Esteemed neuroscientist Rodrigo Quian Quiroga, known for his discovery of 'Jennifer Aniston neurons,' will join AI experts Jesús Bobadilla and Ulises Cortés for a discussion. They will engage with Carla Nyman and Amnir Yatziv, artists whose work is featured in CÚBIT, to examine how AI is influencing artistic creation, the concept of authorship, and an art system increasingly shaped by algorithms. The conversation aims to shed light on the evolving landscape of art in the digital age, addressing both the opportunities and the potential risks presented by AI technologies.
The event features prominent figures in their respective fields. Rodrigo Quian Quiroga is an ICREA Professor at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute, with a background in physics and mathematics, whose research focuses on perception, memory, and the neural basis of intelligence. Ulises Cortés is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and a scientific coordinator at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, with extensive experience in AI ethics and research. Jesús Bobadilla is a University Professor at the UPM, specializing in computer vision and natural language processing, and is recognized as one of the most influential researchers globally in his fields.
