Curatorial context

The exhibition "Miguel Ángel Blanco. “El aura de los ciervos”" showcases the contemporary work of artist Miguel Ángel Blanco, engaging in a dialogue with Romantic-era pieces from the Museo del Romanticismo's collection that focus on hunting themes. Inspired by Fernando Brambilla's print 'Vista del Real Palacio de Riofrío tomada entre el Norte y Levante, con relámpago', Blanco selected museum works including prints, a miniature, and lithophanes, all sharing the common theme of hunting. These pieces are displayed alongside eight 'book-boxes' from Blanco's 'Biblioteca del Bosque' series, also drawing from hunting iconography. The exhibition culminates in an immersive installation designed to evoke the visceral experience of the animal world, incorporating elements from the Museo Nacional de Ciencias Naturales. The exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport and curated by Miguel Ángel Blanco himself.
