Serving as the Humfry Payne Senior Research Fellow at the college since 1999, Professor Elsner holds the role of Professor of Late Antique Art. His academic work focuses on the art and archaeology of the Greek, Roman, and early Christian periods, alongside broader inquiries into Eurasian art history, ancient visual culture, and the reception of classical works over time.
