Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw Continues 'Quiet Hours' for 2026
The Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw will once again host its "Quiet Hours" initiative throughout 2026, offering a more serene environment for visitors with sensory sensitivities. Following successful implementations in previous years, this program is designed to make the interactive exhibits accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
Scheduled for one afternoon each month, these dedicated hours aim to reduce sensory overload. During this time, from 13:00 to 18:00, loud exhibits and devices that emit harsh or strobe lighting will be turned off or clearly marked and separated. Additionally, the High Voltage Theatre will present a specially adapted, quieter performance.
Enhancing Accessibility for All Visitors
The "Quiet Hours" initiative addresses the needs of individuals, particularly children, who experience sensory stimuli differently, such as those on the autism spectrum. A regular visit to a bustling science centre can be overwhelming, leading to fatigue, distress, or irritability due to noise and bright lights.
By implementing these adjustments, the Copernicus Science Centre strives to provide a welcoming and stress-free experience, allowing all visitors to engage with the exhibits without unnecessary anxiety or discomfort. The centre also facilitates ticket purchases during "Quiet Hours" with a priority ticket desk (No. 5) to minimize queuing. More details on accessibility can be found on their Without barriers webpage. The center proudly partners with the Jim Foundation on this important initiative.
