Exploring the Cultural Legacy of Warsaw Pharmacist Ferdynand Karo's Botanical Exhibition

The exhibition 'Dziedzictwo kulturowe warszawskiego farmaceuty Ferdynanda Karo na tle inwentaryzacji świata' (Cultural Heritage of the Warsaw Pharmacist Ferdynand Karo against the Background of World Inventory) presented the achievements of Warsaw pharmacist Ferdynand Karo. Through his work, over 80,000 herbarium sheets featuring Siberian plants were sent to natural history museums and botanical institutes globally. The exhibition displayed specimens collected by Karo from various Siberian locations, reaching as far as the right bank of the Amur River. These now-forgotten accomplishments are particularly significant today as they document vegetation not yet subjected to human impact, serving as a valuable source of knowledge on the world's biological diversity. Visitors to the Museum of Pharmacy, a branch of the Museum of Warsaw, had the opportunity to view authentic herbarium sheets prepared by Ferdynand Karo.
