LivingLAB is a unique research space at the Copernicus Science Centre where visitors can actively participate in scientific studies related to social sciences, psychology, and learning. By engaging with interactive stations, visitors contribute to ongoing global research while discovering the mechanisms of human cooperation, curiosity, and creativity.
LivingLAB represents an atypical exhibition space within the Copernicus Science Centre, dedicated to exploring the world of social sciences, including psychology, sociology, and learning sciences. Visitors are invited to become active participants in scientific research conducted by international teams. By interacting with five dedicated research stations, individuals contribute data that aids in creating new knowledge and making discoveries about human cooperation, curiosity, and creativity.
The researchers involved have designed studies specifically for the LivingLAB environment, often featured with short explanatory videos. Participation is voluntary, and while data is anonymized and used solely for scientific purposes, minor participants require guardian consent. The research themes are diverse, including AI-assisted drawing, group dynamics, identity formation, and collaborative learning processes, with projects designed by academics from institutions such as the University of Wrocław, Jagiellonian University, Freie Universität Berlin, University College London, and the University of California, Berkeley. The exhibition space is dynamic, with research projects rotating periodically, and the centre actively recruits new scientists to conduct their work within this innovative setting.
