Curatorial context

The XIII edition of the Przemiany Festival centers on the theme 'Superorganism. Does the body have limits?', inviting a deep dive into the human body as a complex ecosystem, a product of evolution, and a canvas for technological advancement. The exhibition questions the very definition of 'self' by highlighting our symbiotic relationship with microorganisms and exploring the accelerating pace of scientific and technological innovations that promise enhanced longevity and capabilities. It prompts reflection on the ethical boundaries of body modification, genetic engineering, and artificial intelligence, posing critical questions about where the line lies between repair and enhancement, and what kind of future we are building for Homo sapiens. The festival program includes interdisciplinary expert panels, debates, film screenings, performances, and an exhibition featuring works by contemporary artists. These events facilitate discussions with scientists, technologists, designers, and artists on topics ranging from the microbiome and regenerative medicine to bionic implants, longevity, and the future of soldiery and sport. The exhibition itself showcases new media art, bio art, and kinetic art, alongside Polish documentary films, offering diverse perspectives on the evolving relationship between humans, their bodies, and technology.
