Exhibition summary
“Спільні домівки / Domy wspólne” is a family-friendly exhibition exploring the essence of home and the feeling of security in a changing world. Developed with input from individuals with migration experience, particularly from Ukraine, the exhibition uses interactive elements and creative works from workshops to discuss home as a collection of associations, memories, and relationships.
Curatorial context
The exhibition "Спільні домівки / Domy wspólne" (Common Homes / Shared Houses) delves into the fundamental concept of 'home' and the universal need for security, especially within a context of global change. Developed through a series of creative workshops involving children and adults, including those with Ukrainian migration experience, the project generated collages, embroideries, sounds, and ceramic forms. These creations served as a foundation for dialogues about home, not as a fixed location, but as a nexus of associations, memories, relationships, and daily experiences.
The exhibition emphasizes sensory engagement through tactile elements like clay, blankets, and textiles, alongside communal activities, aiming to regulate emotions and facilitate exploration of sensitive themes. It offers guidance for adults to engage children in age-appropriate conversations about home, memory, and change. The core principle of 'radical hospitality' invites reflection on how Warsaw, as a shared space, is continually reshaped by relationships, gestures, and mutual care among diverse groups. The museum itself becomes a meeting place, a shared home co-created by individuals with varied experiences.
