An installation titled 'Fuente' by Romanian architect Corvin Cristian, located in the Central Courtyard of Conde Duque. The artwork features a circular water fountain with a central, rotating element composed of convex mirrors, designed to reflect the environment and visitors in a dynamic, playful manner.
The exhibition 'Fuente' by Romanian architect Corvin Cristian presents an installation in the Central Courtyard of Conde Duque, reimagining the space's historical military purpose for contemporary cultural production. The installation, titled after the circular fountain at its core, incorporates a playful central element with rotating convex mirrors resembling traffic mirrors, forming a zoomorphic figure that could be interpreted as a fantastical creature. Water is dispensed from its "branches" through numerous small spouts. These mirrors move, allowing viewers to see reflections of the surroundings and themselves in motion. The fountain itself evokes historical precedents, from ancient social structures and public spaces in Arab and Italian cultures to mythical symbolism. Positioned off-center, 'Fuente' challenges conventional urban planning and architectural alignment, encouraging visitors to find new perspectives by engaging with the flowing water and the multiespecies appearance created by the mobile mirrors. This project marks the first collaboration between Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Condeduque and Concéntrico, a festival dedicated to architecture and design that explores urban environments and their uses. Corvin Cristian is an architect and designer known for his eclectic and ironic approach, with extensive experience in hospitality, office, and residential projects, and a significant international publication and award record.
