Curatorial context

«The Big Bang» by the Klaipėda Puppet Theatre takes audiences to the very beginning of the universe, where life emerges on a planet inhabited by a small robot and its dog. Their peaceful existence is threatened when it starts to rain, posing an existential question about how this metallic world will react to water and the impact of climate change. The performance raises surprisingly urgent and relevant questions about the origin and potential end of life, presented in a highly entertaining manner. This production is a coproduction between the Klaipėda Puppet Theatre (Lithuania) and Itim Ensemble (Israel), exemplifying the creative synergy between puppetry and cinema developed by PuppetCinema and its artistic director, Zvi Sahar. The show's world is constructed from repurposed electronic device parts, directly linking the production's theme of ecology, climate change, and sustainability to its creation process. The visual spectacle involves filming miniature puppets and projecting the image live onto a screen, blending theatricality with cinematic technique.
