Exhibition summary

Atmospheric Bodies is an exhibition by resident artists Parker and Espinel that explores the material and atmospheric connections between glass, algae, and air. It delves into the concept of the human body as a porous, permeable medium in constant exchange with its environment, using glass as a living interface.

Curatorial context

Atmospheric Bodies is a new phase in the creative dialogue between artists Parker and Espinel, building upon their previous exhibition 'Transformaciones: arte, ecología y tecnología' from September 2024. This exhibition deepens the exploration of material and atmospheric relationships between glass, algae, and air. The artists envision glass not as a static material, but as a living, porous interface capable of containing air as memory. They conceive of the human body as a permeable medium, in constant exchange with the surrounding environment and other beings. Collaborating with scientific glassblower Emilio Elvira and artist Marta de Cambra, Parker and Espinel are developing new glass sculptures, accompanied by sound and video recordings. This project aims to bridge art, science, and technique, extending the poetics of transformation that defines their shared practice.
