This exhibition prompts a deep reflection on the narratives surrounding sexual violence, featuring testimonies from women about the questioning and guilt they face regarding their attire on the day of their assaults. Adapted for the Spanish context, it aims to deconstruct patterns of sexual violence and foster new stories of hope.
The exhibition ¿Qué llevabas puesto? (What Were You Wearing?) invites a profound reflection on the narratives that accompany sexual violence. This sample, adapted to the Spanish context, arrives in Spain after being exhibited in institutions and public organizations worldwide. The title of the exhibition is the question that, to this day, is still repeated after experiencing episodes of sexual violence, regardless of how, when, or where the events occurred. It originated at the University of Arkansas in 2013, inspired by the poem 'What Was I Wearing?' by Mary Simmerling.
The exhibition is constructed through the testimonies of 8 women about the questioning and guilt they are subjected to due to the clothing they wore on the day the sexual assaults occurred. With the objective of weaving new narratives of hope, the exhibition becomes a space for action, participation, and reflection to dismantle patterns surrounding sexual violence.
