The exhibition 'Koleżanki i koledzy' (Friends and Colleagues) presents a unique photographic series by Zelda Klimkowska, focusing on the people of Warsaw's Praga district during a time of considerable urban and social change. Between the late 1990s and early 2000s, Praga saw the emergence of numerous artist studios, photography labs, independent theaters, and clubs, leading to new neighborly relationships between artists and long-time residents. Klimkowska's portraits, titled 'Friends and Colleagues,' reflect this evolving dynamic. The artist invited her neighbors, from local shopkeepers to residents of courtyards like Inżynierska 3, to be photographed, often in their private, comfortable spaces. She states, 'The presented photographs are not just my creation; they are negotiated with the subjects. I look at them warmly, I don't judge them, and I even admire their specific beauty.' This approach resulted in an artistically valuable and unique record of the changing image of Praga, capturing the essence of its communities during a pivotal era.
