The exhibition "Z Melliny Sztuki: Jerzy Lassota" presents a selection of paintings by Jerzy Lassota de Kaliński, created between 2001 and 2015. Born near Toruń shortly after the war and a long-time resident of Warsaw, Lassota established the "Mellina Sztuki" studio and gallery on Praga, becoming a figure associated with the area's artistic identity. He debuted as a painter at seventeen, forging an independent path without formal art studies or affiliations with art unions, while gaining international recognition. The exhibition features representational works, including an "Autoportret" (Self-Portrait), an "Akt" (Nude), and two canvases, "Miłość na Pradze" (Love on Praga) and "Ulicę Brzeską" (Brzeska Street), all intended to convey the characteristic spirit of the right-bank Warsaw. This exhibition is the first in a planned series titled "Z Melliny Sztuki," dedicated to artists connected with the "Mellina Sztuki" studio. Lassota, who arrived on Praga after 2000, sought a space for himself and other painters from the "Niezależni ’69" group, contributing to the area's reputation as an artists' district. Through these chosen works, the artist wishes to emphasize his affection for Praga, a district he believes possesses a distinct character. The exhibition is co-organized with the Skarbnica Sztuki Foundation and curated by Anna Mizikowska.
