The exhibition "El arte de volar según Candela Cort" (The Art of Flying According to Candela Cort) highlights the profound connection between art history and fashion through the innovative work of artist Candela Cort. The display features reinterpreted portraits of figures drawn from significant works across art history, including frescos and canvases from the classical, Renaissance, Baroque, modern, and contemporary periods. These iconic figures are reimagined as models adorned with Cort's signature headwear, crafted from materials such as raffia, velvet, burlap, tulle, organza, chiffon, and metal mesh. Cort's designs are distinguished by their absence of straight angles, favoring instead volutes, circles, and spirals that echo the forms found in the paintings she reinterprets through collage. The headpieces by Candela Cort are carefully associated with these artistic icons through shared materials, forms, and colors. The collages presented at the Museo del Traje represent the artist's most pictorial proposal to date, offering visitors a unique visual experience that bridges fine art and fashion design.
