This exhibition, previously shown in Paris and curated by Olivier Saillard, showcases a selection of traditional Spanish garments from the Museo del Traje's collection. It highlights the aesthetic and artisanal values of traditional Spanish clothing and explores its influence on high fashion.
Presented after its success in Paris, "Iconos de Estilo" (Style Icons), curated by Olivier Saillard with the advisory of the Museo del Traje, features a careful selection from the museum's collections of traditional attire. Saillard, a highly influential figure in fashion culture, focuses on the aesthetic and artisanal qualities of traditional Spanish garments. The exhibition reveals the origins of styles, structures, and decorations that have been incorporated into high fashion by designers such as Balenciaga, Ana Pombo, Antonio del Catillo, and later, Lacroix, Galliano, and Yves Saint Laurent.
"Iconos de Estilo" also revisits the collection that formed the foundation of the Museo del Traje, offering a renewed perspective on its origins. This exploration is complemented by a selection of photographic works by José Ortiz Echagüe. The exhibition is organized by the Museo del Traje and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), with collaboration from the Palais Galliera. Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris.
