Inspiración Wabi-Sabi: Exploring Unique Art and Emotional Expression at Museo del Traje

This exhibition showcases artworks inspired by the Japanese Wabi-Sabi philosophy, created by participants of a workshop for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The workshop, a collaboration with the Museo del Traje, encouraged participants to explore and express emotions evoked by the museum's collections and spaces.

"Inspiración Wabi-Sabi" presents a collection of artworks born from a workshop deeply influenced by the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi, which values imperfection and the intensity of expression over grandeur. This project was promoted by the Fundación Amanecer, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities and their families. For six years, the workshop participants have worked under the guidance of painter Pilar Merino, developing their artistic skills and exhibiting their work to foster self-esteem and raise societal awareness. This particular iteration of the workshop, developed between October 2017 and June 2018 in collaboration with the Museo del Traje, saw students engage directly with the museum's collections. The resulting exhibition captures their free and spontaneous vision of the emotions evoked by both the museum's artifacts and the museum environment itself, offering a unique perspective on art and perception.
