It offers a sentimental and artistic journey through her diverse photographic creations, from early black and white images to modern digital formats and her iconic painted photographs.

Curatorial context

Coinciding with the National Photography Award bestowed upon Ouka Leele, this exhibition presents an extensive collection of her inédite (unpublished) works. The Madrid-based artist, a prominent figure of the 1980s 'La Movida' cultural movement, is honored with a show that traces her sentimental and artistic journey through images, reminiscent of a "human comedy" in visual form. The exhibition, housed in the Museo del Traje where Ouka Leele's work was previously shown in 1987, features 67 medium and large-format pieces. It highlights her technical mastery and continuous creativity, spanning from her initial black and white photographs to contemporary digital images captured with mobile phones and enhanced with Photoshop. A key element is the inclusion of her signature painted photographs, a style that brought her considerable fame. "Ouka Leele Inédita" aims to recreate the emotional experience of a public encounter with art, mirroring the Renaissance tradition where artists would reveal their completed works. This unique opportunity allows visitors to witness her artistic development and achievements, fostering curiosity among both existing admirers and new audiences.
