This temporary exhibition showcases the artistic creations from a therapeutic art workshop focused on body identity and emotional expression, aimed at treating and preventing eating disorders. The project developed from February to June 2018, culminating in a collection of unique, symbolic costumes designed by participants.
Proyecto Talla única is a temporary exhibition stemming from an art therapy workshop dedicated to exploring corporal identity and emotional expression as therapeutic tools for the treatment and prevention of eating disorders. Developed at the Museum of Costume between February and June 2018, the project is founded on the belief that artistic expression and creativity foster self-affirmation, personal balance, and the discovery of solutions in life's processes. Art therapy is posited as an ideal methodology for self-affirmation, developing a personal vision of beauty, and promoting acceptance of both one's body and personality, thereby aiding in the deep analysis of life's emotional experiences.
The creative-therapeutic work delves into intimate spaces, countering external influences that promote a standard ideal of beauty perceived as a prerequisite for personal and social well-being. Over several months, women with eating disorders convened to create, share, understand, relate, exhibit, invent, and express themselves without limits. This process facilitates introspection and acceptance, paving paths toward rehabilitation by comprehending and interpreting underlying causes. The artistic spectrum inherent in everyone blossoms from this experience, synthesized into the design of a unique, symbolic, and personal costume based on each participant's emotional biography. The exhibition and a preceding fashion show serve to make these personal costumes visible to society, highlighting art's potential as an effective tool in treating pathologies and dysfunctions related to emotional well-being and mental health.
