Oxford Playhouse Announces Creative Team and Details for Festive Pantomime Snow White
Preparations are officially underway for the upcoming festive season at Oxford Playhouse, which has revealed the full creative team and storyline for its upcoming holiday production, Snow White. Running from Friday 20 November 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027, the production marks a fresh direction for the venue's traditional holiday staging.
A Fresh Take on a Classic Tale in Oxford
This year’s production introduces a brand-new title to the stage, directed for the first time by the theatre’s Artistic Director, Mike Tweddle. Writer Sarah Henley has penned the adaptation, which transports audiences into the magical setting of West Oxford Wood.
The plot follows the central character, Snow, as she navigates an enchanted forest and encounters a series of new characters. Standing in her way is the image-obsessed Queen Narcissa, whose desire for endless power and beauty threatens the natural environment. To protect the woodland, Snow must outwit the queen with the help of unexpected companions.
Behind the Scenes and Local Talent
The production brings together an experienced creative collective. Grammy-nominated musician Caolan McCarthy joins as Composer and Arranger. Returning members from previous years include Bronia Housman as Set Designer, Immy Howard as Costume Designer, Chris Humphries as Sound Designer, Will Hayman as Lighting Designer, and Emily Scott as Choreographer. Augustine Van Spyk assists with sound design, while Paul Simpson acts as Associate Director.
In line with the theatre's commitment to community engagement, the production features strong local ties. More than sixty professional Oxfordshire actors participated in regional auditions, and local youths aged 11 to 15 will comprise the Panto Young Company. Furthermore, the production embraces sustainability by repurposing elements of the set from the previous year's production of Dick Whittington.
