Latając nad Warszawą: Aerial Photographs of Warsaw from the 1960s and 1970s

Dom Spotkań z Historią presents 'Latając nad Warszawą. Fotografie Zbyszka Siemaszki z lat 60. i 70.', an outdoor exhibition of remarkable aerial photographs of Warsaw. The exhibition features images taken by Zbyszko Siemaszko between 1965 and 1975, offering a rare bird's-eye view of the city during a significant period of its development. These photographs, previously largely unseen, were created as part of Siemaszko's collaboration with the National Centre for Research and Documentation of Historical Monuments and were also published in albums like 'Poland from a Bird's Eye View' and 'Warsaw from a Bird's Eye View,' as well as in 'Stolica' weekly. The collection is preserved by the Siemaszko family. The exhibition details Siemaszko's adventurous approach to aerial photography, including his experiences flying in various aircraft like Cessnas and helicopters, often in challenging weather conditions to capture clear, detailed shots. The display also highlights Siemaszko's extensive career, which included documenting the reconstruction of Warsaw and contributing significantly to photographic publications.
