Curatorial context
The exhibition 'FOTOGRAFIA JEST WSZĘDZIE' (Photography is Everywhere) at the History Meeting House offers a unique exploration of photography, designed primarily for children aged 5-12 but welcoming all ages. It aims to demystify photography, showcasing its ubiquitous presence in art, journalism, science, and daily life. Visitors are invited to engage with the world through various lenses, from examining the microscopic details of a spider's eye to understanding global perspectives through images of children playing worldwide. The exhibition encourages a hands-on, investigative approach, allowing participants to be explorers, detectives, or scientists as they uncover the power and pervasiveness of photographic imagery.
Co-curated by Katarzyna Sagatowska, Monika Szewczyk-Wittek, and Marta Szymańska, this exhibition previously premiered at the Fotofestiwal in Łódź and was shown at the Centre for Contemporary Art in Opole before its presentation in Warsaw. The History Meeting House's version is specifically tailored for a young audience, emphasizing discovery and critical thinking about how photographs shape our understanding of reality. The exhibition underscores that a world without photography would be significantly smaller, less engaging, and less joyful, highlighting its essential role in documenting moments and sharing experiences.
